Introduction
Goal Up is an app to set goals and be accountable to friends. We turned a concept and a set of designs into a fully functioning, cross-platform app. By solving tough technical problems early and staying adaptable throughout, we delivered an app that’s fast, reliable, beautifully designed, and ready for real-world use.

The Challenge
Mason, the CEO, came to us with a clear but ambitious challenge: take a polished app design and turn it into a fully functioning product—on a tight timeline and budget. While the concept itself was straightforward, the technical demands were anything but. Reminder-based apps have unique complexities, especially when dealing with time zone syncing, reliable cross-platform notifications, goal sharing and collaboration, and the need for a clean, scalable architecture. On top of that, we had a multi-person development team working in parallel, so clear delegation and smart tooling were essential to avoid rework. Finally, the UI wasn’t just polished - it was highly custom, requiring precise implementation that went well beyond standard components.
How we Helped
We built the app from the ground up using Flutter for cross-platform development and Google Cloud Platform for backend services—striking the right balance between speed and reliability. To handle complex infrastructure needs quickly and cleanly, we integrated smart tools like Firebase for real-time data and auth, RevenueCat for subscription handling, and Widgetbook to streamline UI collaboration and component testing. - One of the biggest technical wins came from carefully designing around timezone edge cases—ensuring reminders fired reliably across regions, schedules adjusted cleanly with daylight savings, and shared goals synced correctly no matter where users were located. Despite the tight timeline, we also made room for a complete redesign of the creation flow in response to late-stage user feedback—something we were able to deliver efficiently thanks to our modular approach. - Flutter proved especially powerful in executing Mason’s very custom UI vision. We leaned into its flexibility to faithfully reproduce intricate interface details without sacrificing performance. The result was a responsive, polished product that felt truly native—built fast, built well, and built to scale.
